Torah Portions
The Scroll to Scroll weekly Torah program is a 2 hour in-depth yet entertaining tour into the full breadth of the Scriptures. Every week, we give you the historical and linguistic tools you need to go deeper into weekly portion, otherwise known as “the parsha”.
In Part 1, we take you into the heart of the Torah portion by reading in English and teaching the in-depth and multi-layered Hebrew readings that permeate the Set-Apart original text. There is also considerable attention given to wider historical sources to substantiate and clarify the text as many long standing controversies and a few popular misconceptions are dealt with in proper chronological order. The first video then closes with an extensive vocabulary and linguistic discussion designed to bring you into the heart of how Torah has been discussed for thousands of years.
Part 2 then picks up with the Haftorah, or selected readings from the great prophets of old such as Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel, among many others, to show the careful way in which the original Torah message was discussed and analyzed throughout the entire Biblical period. That discussion then continues of course into the scheduled New Testament portion, where the words of our Savior Y’shua are put back into their first century original Hebraic context, both from Y’shua’s 1st century Hebrew culture and his native Aramaic language, and we close with the weekly “sermon” or “Torah Thought for the Week” to bring this Set-Apart and ancient text back to our modern needs, yearnings to shed light on critical spiritual matters affecting all of us today.
It’s a tour through the Scripture unlike any other on the web so I hope you will join us!
- Balak June 27, 2019
A female donkey proves herself more righteous than the prophet Father Yah sent on a special mission. It’s not some kind of sit-com nor is is it a weird off-Broadway play. It’s our parsha this week, Balak, and there is so much more going on that just having that special …
- Chukkat June 18, 2019
This is a parsha with a stark study in contrasts. Here the red heifer instructions are given though they had clearly been in place previously and well understood, and it is in this parsha also that both Miriam and Aaron die. The other significant part of Chukkat is that within …
- Korach June 13, 2019
SHOWDOWN! In this corner, Moshe, Yehoshua, Caleb and Aaron, while in the other corner, the “away team” of Korah, Dathan, Abiram, along with a bunch more leaders and the people they lead. In short, pretty much everyone else is in rebellion or knows someone who is. When it’s over nearly …
- Shelach Lecha June 6, 2019
We are literally in the calm before the storm, between the end of one rebellion and the commencement of a much worse one on the immediate horizon. Moshe’s challenges ramp up this week as he does not realize that even though Father Yah commands him to send out spies, it’s …
- Be’halotekha May 28, 2019
What happens when Father Yah deliberately withholds information to see if Israel will care about resolving a contradiction? What happens when, after all that time at Mount Sinai it is suddenly time to head out to an uncertain future? How about the calendar codes inherent in the way they march …
- Naso May 23, 2019
From censuses to the only parsha that deals with marital problems. From the curious rules of the Nazirite to the Aaronic blessing. Naso is a fascinating study in contrasts and scope. And it all culminates with what may be the most thorough (90+ minutes long) and perhaps even most shocking …
- Bamidbar May 15, 2019
The days at Mount Sinai are coming to an end as Moshe takes stock–literally–and tries to figure out what to do next. But before he can prepare to move on, he first has to count what he has for warriors priests and regular Israelites. Even the Kingdom of Israel needs …
- 2019 Shavuot Special! May 10, 2019
From foreshadowing from the early days of the patriarchs to prophetic and apocalyptic warnings about our future, Shavuot has been linked to so many critical events. From the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai to spectacular outpouring of the Ruach Ha Kodesh in Acts 2 and beyond, Shavuot has …
- BaHar-Be’Chukkotai May 2, 2019
Now begin the last days of Israel’s stay at Mount Sinai and the final commandments they will receive there are given over these last two parshas of Leviticus. Now finally past the major ramifications from the deaths of Nadav and Avihu, Israel may think the worst is behind them, when …
- Emor April 25, 2019
Prepare for the Great Feast of Shavuot with the preview in this parsha of Emor. Go deep into the purity regulations of the priests and goes to the heart of the entire legal systems of Israel. Also a key discussion on often obscured topics such as what blasphemy is and …
Torah 101
We often call our study process “walking” through Torah, because it is a wonderful journey that takes time and consistent effort, but it always bears great spiritual fruits for those who wish to understand the Scripture.
But not everyone wishes to go about this in the “total immersion” style of Scroll to Scroll, or they are on the go and need a shorter, more basic teaching. If that describes you, then you need “Torah 101”—the concise yet thought provoking journey through each week’s Scripture teachings. In less than half the time of the regular program, Andrew will distill the essence of the actual Torah portion down to its core message and walk you through the same majestic beauty and intricacies between both parts of our Bible. See the Torah, Prophets and the New Testament interconnect in a way you never saw before, and all in under an hour, to enable your “walk” in Scripture to deepen each week!
